This course consists of a treatment manual and training videos, totaling roughly eight hours of reading and five hours of video, broken into three modules. At the end of each module, you will complete a short quiz before proceeding. You will also find resources such as participant assessments and an online support community of other equine-assisted psychotherapy providers. During this course you will learn about the development of EAT-PTSD, who will benefit from EAT-PTSD, how to select and assess participants, treatment team roles, how to conduct all eight EAT-PTSD sessions, how to track treatment efficacy through participant symptom reduction, and more.
Learning Objectives:
As a result of this course, students will be able to:
1. Facilitate all eight sessions of EAT-PTSD treatment.
2. Indicate appropriate equine selection for participation in EAT-PTSD.
3. Employ treatment guidelines for EAT-PTSD.
4. Demonstrate the benefits of group experiential therapy and how it differs from traditional alternatives.
Tip for Success:
Remember that this is a specific protocol, designed, and studied for its efficacy for Veterans with PTSD. While other programs are also successful, in order to achieve the research-based outcomes adherence to this protocol is necessary. Familiarize yourself with the manual and its contents, and feel free to ask any questions in the Member Connections community.
